Adaptive Equipment & Technology for Students
Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi has the following adaptive equipment/technology available to students:
- Height Adjustable Table
- The table's height is adjustable. This may be helpful for people using wheelchairs, people with back, or other types of physical problems. These tables are only found in the library locations.
- CCTV—(Closed Circuit Television)
- Text placed under the machine appears magnified on the monitor.
- JAWS for Windows
- Works with a PC to provide access to today’s software applications and the Internet. With its internal software speech synthesizer and the computer’s sound card, information from the screen is read aloud, providing technology to access a wide variety of information.
- Kurzweil 3000 Scan & Read
- Provides both an auditory and visual presentation of scanned text and images on the computer screen. Can be used as a compensatory aid for people with learning disabilities.
- Kurzweil 1000 Scan &Read
- Reading software that makes printed or electronic text accessible to people who are blind or have limited vision.
- ZoomText Xtra Level 2
- Designed for people with low-vision, ZoomText Xtra Level 2 features synchronized magnification and screen reading capabilities.
- TTY Telephone
- A device that lets people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired use the telephone to communicate, by allowing them to type messages back and forth to one another instead of talking and listening.
