Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi has a large selection of assistive technology available to students, including but not limited to:

CCTV—(Closed Circuit Television)

Text placed under the machine appears magnified on the monitor.

JAWS for Windows

Works with a PC to provide access to today’s software applications and the Internet. With its internal software speech synthesizer and the computer’s sound card, information from the screen is read aloud, providing technology to access a wide variety of information.

Kurzweil 3000 Web Edition

If you have a PC running Windows 7 or Windows 10 that is connected to the Internet, you can use Kurzweil 3000 v 15 web edition to read your etexts from home. Download and install the software from this link, then contact Jennifer Weir for a username and password to access Kurzweil 3000 web edition.

ZoomText Xtra and Magic Screen Magnification

Designed for people with low-vision, ZoomText Xtra and magic feature synchronized magnification and screen reading capabilities.

Student Computer Labs

  • Center for Instruction Room 222: Kurzweil and ZoomText are installed on specific computers.
  • Center for Instruction Room 223: ZoomText is installed on a specific computer (labeled).
  • Corpus Christi Hall Room 224: ZoomText Magnifier is installed on a specific computer (labeled). Kurzweil 3000 is installed on all of the computers. Zoomtext is also installed on the computer right outside of room 224.
  • Corpus Christi Hall Room 230: Jaws 11 is installed on a specific computer. ZoomText is installed on another computer (labeled).
  • Corpus Christi Hall Room 210: ZoomText is installed on a specific computer (labeled).
  • O'Connor Hall - Zoomtext Magnifier v. 10 is available in all of the School of Business computer labs in rooms 240, 241, 242 (Open Lab), and 243.
